Abstract
This study aims to analyze the effects of role conflict and workload on employee performance,
with burnout as a mediating variable, among Generation Z college students. This study
employs a quantitative approach using a survey method via a Google Forms questionnaire
administered to 100 Generation Z college student respondents who are also working. Data
analysis was conducted using SmartPLS 4 to test the relationships among variables in the
research model. The results show that role conflict has a significant negative effect on burnout,
while workload has a significant positive effect on burnout. Furthermore, burnout was not
found to be a mediating variable in the relationship between role conflict or workload and job
performance. Overall, the results indicate that Generation Z student workers possess good
adaptive abilities in coping with role demands and workload, so the impact on burnout and job
performance is not always negative.
