This study aims to analyze the effect of work motivation and job satisfaction on the
performance of Indonesian Migrant Workers (IMWs) in Malaysia, considering the high
number of Indonesian migrant worker placements that require optimal human resource
quality in a cross-border work context. This research employs a quantitative approach using
descriptive and verificative methods, with data collected through an online questionnaire
distributed to 100 Indonesian Migrant Workers in Malaysia using purposive sampling. Data
analysis was conducted using the Partial Least Square (PLS) method with SmartPLS
software, including the evaluation of the outer model and inner model. The results indicate
that work motivation and job satisfaction each have a positive and significant effect on
employee performance, and simultaneously exert a significant influence on the performance
of Indonesian Migrant Workers in Malaysia. These findings confirm that high work
motivation and good job satisfaction contribute to optimal, disciplined, and sustainable
employee performance. This study is expected to provide theoretical contributions to the
development of human resource management studies in the context of migrant labor, as well
as practical implications for the government, BP2MI, and labor placement agencies in
designing policies and development programs to improve the quality and sustainability of
Indonesian Migrant Worker placements in Malaysia.
